A Christmas Tree

“A Christmas Tree”. This Christmas ornament was turned entirely on a lathe from a single piece of wood. This complex technique is often called negative space or involuted or inside-out turning. Here, the inside you see now was first turned to shape, the entire piece split down the middle, flipped around and turned again. The end product is a Christmas Tree-looking ornament in both positive and negative space. Made from locally sourced Cherry.
